Over 200 alumni and guests attended the NYC alumni reception on Sunday, November 8, at Charlie Palmer'sMetrazur Restaurant in Grand Central Station. Alumni and friends from all over the tri-state area had the opportunity to network with each other.

Food Jobs: 150 Great Jobs for Culinary Professionals, Career Changers and Food Lovers (Beaufort, 2008) won the 2009 Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Best Book for Food Professionals.

Ming Tsai has won awards as a chef, restaurateur, and television host. The owner of Blue Ginger restaurant in Wellesley, MA is also actively involved in community organizations, charities, and developing public policy.
11/10/2009The CIA Launches Manager-In-Training Program for Select GraduatesThirty graduates of the CIA are working at the college as managers-in-training in various kitchens and dining rooms. The new manager-in-training (MIT) program at the CIA expands upon the previous graduate fellowship and teaching assistant programs.

10/26/2009Fourth Annual Culinary Institute of America / ProStart Day a Success!The 4th Annual CIA/ProStart Day was a huge success. Nearly 400 students came from 22 northeast Ohio comprehensive and career-technical school districts as well as from the Ashland, Bellefontaine, and Lima areas. One of the highlights of the day was a keynote presentation by “Cleveland’s Own” Michael Symon.

Mackenzie Arrington, a recent graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, earned the title of Maine Lobster Chef of the Year with his dish of Roasted Lobster Tail on Braised Cabbage and Cornbread.

North America Foodservice (Campbell) chefs and CIA grads Amanda Zimlich '00 and Tom Frain '97 facilitated a "Seed to Sandwich" cooking class for Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School students on October 20 at Bartram's Garden in Philadelphia.

9/1/2009U.S. Poet Laureate to Read From His Work at The CIA
Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Simic, the Poet Laureate of the United States in 2007 and 2008, will be reading his poetry at the CIA in Hyde Park on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Simic's presentation, part of the college's Dooley Lecture Series, takes place in the Ecolab Theater in the CIA Admissions Building at 2:30 p.m.
8/24/2009CIA Alumni Study/Exchange Program in Catalonia, SpainTwo scholarships are available for recent graduates of the CIA to attend an overseas study/exchange program in Catalonia, Spain at the Alícia Foundation. The exchange program is scheduled to begin on October 13th, and conclude on December 18th. Candidates must submit their applications by no later than August 31, 2009.
